Nestled under the shadow of Storm King Mountain just 50 miles north of New York City, Cornwall on the Hudson offers fantastic kayaking opportunities for all levels and abilities.

Cornwall on Hudson is the base for our kayaking operations. Our shop is located in the old Storm King Theater in the heart of the village, convenient to apres paddling drinks,and great restaurants. Cornwall is a perfect place to spend the day or a weekend.  Our guides are local and can give you recommendations on the best places to eat, drink, hike, and bike.  They may even join you!

Our Trips

Kids Kayak - MVG offers the most Kids Kayaking opportunities in the Hudson Valley. Our Kids Only Kayaking Program will have your kids paddling like pros and exploring the Hudson River in no time at all. Scheduled Monday-Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm (July & August) this program will be the hit of your kid’s summer and also gives parents time to run errands or enjoy a lunch out with a friend. The Kids Kayaking meets at the Cornwall Landing. Reservations are required to guarantee a spot. “Walk ins” will be added if space permits. Ages 9-14. All MVG trips are guided and include instruction, kayak and gear.

Family Kayak - Families that paddle together stay together!Kids must be 8 years and older, includes kayak, gear, instruction and guide. Everybody gets their own boat, tandem kayaks are available upon request. Check in is required 20 minutes prior to departure. All MVG trips are guided and include instruction, kayak and gear.

Sunset Paddle - There may be few better ways to end the day than enjoying a relaxing Hudson Valley Sunset on the water. Tide and river currents will dictate our direction and destinations. 2 Hours, please arrive 20 minutes prior to your departure. All MVG trips are guided and include instruction, kayak and gear.

Doggie Paddles - As seen on Animal Planet...take your best friend kayaking. Join Mountain Valley Guides as we doggie paddle on the Hudson. All dogs are equipped with a PFD as we paddle out to a remote stretch of beach to let the dogs run and swim. Space is limited so reserve your spot early. Please arrive at check in 20 minutes prior to your departure time. All MVG trips are guided and include instruction, kayak and gear.

Bannerman Island - Paddle along the foot of Storm King Mountain and the shadow of Breakneck Ride as you make your way across the Hudson River to Bannerman Island. Our most popular paddle offers stunning views of the Hudson Highlands that rise nearly a 1000 feet above the river. Bannerman Island is home to Bannerman Castle a former storage facility built in the early 1900s. MVG guides will lead you around the tricky waters of the island and tell you about the unique history of this Hudson Valley landmark. Trip Length: 2 hours. Check in is required 20 minutes prior to trip departure. All MVG trips are guided and include instruction, kayak and gear.

Plum Point - Sandy beaches, bald eagles, sandbar islands, and unforgettable Hudson River views make this paddle a must for anyone looking to get out on the river. This tour leaves Cornwall and heads north to Plum Point. Along the way when the tide is right we will visit the infamous sandbar for a short break and prepare for our search of bald eagles. Our paddle will continue on to the sandy beach of Plum Point which may offer one of the best views in all of the Hudson Valley. MVG Guides will lead you on further up the Hudson along Plum Point before turning south on a return paddle to Cornwall. Trip Length: 2 hours. Check in required 20 minutes prior to trip. Little Stony Point - Available for private groups only: Simply the best tour on the Hudson. Taking advantage of the ebb tide we head south directly under the shadow of Storm King Mountain. The tour offers fantastic views of the cliffs hanging over the Hudson River. We then cross the Hudson and land on a beautiful sandy beach at Little Stony Point. Bring a lunch, snacks and drinks as we relax on the beach for about 45 minutes while enjoying the great Hudson Highlands. Take a short hike to a great vista with amazing views up and down the river. We wait for the flood tide and ride the current back to Cornwall. $75. Includes all gear, guide, instruction and kayak. Fishkill Creek - On this tour you will paddle across the river past Available for Private Groups only: Bannerman Island and head north along the eastern shore to the mouth of Fishkill Creek. We paddle up the creek, beach our boats and walk up to the falls. On the return we enter the Hudson and ride the ebb tide back. Group size, minimum of 4 required. Cost $80. Sandbar BBQ - Available for private bookings only. Min group size 6. We paddle across the river to Bannerman Island, hear bit about the history of the island and the castle. We then circle the island and head back across the river towards Plum Point to our own private sandbar for a BBQ. The BBQ is complete with grilled shrimp, chicken skewers, hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, beans, salad, fresh fruit, cheese, cold drinks, good music and fun people. The most fun you can have on the river! All MVG trips are guided and include instruction, kayak and gear.

Cold Spring - Private Groups Only....A new guide favorite! Utilizing the changing river currents we will head south along the base of Storm King Mountain as we make our way down to the Village of Cold Spring. We will spend some time in Cold Spring where you can browse some shops or grab a quick drink in a pub before heading back to Cornwall. One of our longer trips with close to 7 miles of paddling. $80 (4hrs)Includes gear, guide,instruction and kayak. Min. group size: 4. All MVG trips are guided and include instruction, kayak and gear.
